Start Book Giveaway!

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

– Lao-tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu Chinese philosopher (604 BC – 531 BC)

Just the other day I blogged about naming your day.  Today is dedicated to momentum.  It is dedicated to taking that single step to start.

Did you know that you are just one single defining decision from changing your life?

It is so simple, but so true.  One single defining decision will change your life.  It is as simple as making a decision and then taking action.  Today you have permission to “punch fear in the face”!  You have everything you need to take that first step, but if you want a bonus…

I am giving away an autographed copy of Jon Acuff’s newest book Start: Punch Fear in the Face, Escape Average and Do Work that Matters.

I had the opportunity to meet Jon at a book signing and I jumped on it!  I became a fan of his after he released Quitter: Closing the Gap Between Your Day Job & Your Dream Job. I actually finished the entire book during my downtime while I was on vacation.  I had a blast getting to talk to Jon.  He signed my book, but he also signed a copy for the winner of this contest!

  1. Enjoy reading your blog posts. Have never read Jon Acuff’s books, but have heard great reviews. The first step is definitely the most difficult. Are we, as human beings, that concerned about the possibility of failure? Or is it just that we strongly prefer the known? I suppose the reason for the fear is not nearly as important as the courage and action to overcome it. Now, off I go to take the first step. Keep the blog posts coming!

  2. Thanks for the comment Brice and I will keep them coming every week!!! Let me know how that first step goes!

  3. My first step was the very first post on FB I made about the kickstarter to make my art exhibit a reality and to bring awareness to the normalcy of nursing. There are moments when this journey is terrifying, but I’m loving the passionate people I’m meeting along the way.

    • And I thought your first step was announcing your intention at a Icarus session in the Lakeland room…

    • It is very easy to get sidetracked! Have you defined your goal and written down the steps that it will take to achieve it?

  4. I’ve always been a big fan of the Lao Tzu quote. I’ve never read any Acuff, but that new book looks awesome! Everyone is in need of some inspiration and motivation and I am one of them. I’m going to pick up a copy of “Start.” I can’t wait to dig into it!
